#FirstDayTulsa
We look forward to seeing our students and celebrating the new school year along with you. We invite families to share photos of that first day excitement with the hashtag #FirstDayTulsa! We may even feature some of your photos on Tulsa Public Schools social media!
Help keep our schools safe
Don’t forget that our See. Hear. Share. hotline is staffed around the clock. If you or your student sees or hears something concerning, you can call or text 918-480-SAFE or email share@tulsaschools.org to report a student or school safety concern.
New cell phone policy in effect
A new state law is now in effect that prohibits the use of cell phones by any student during the school day. For elementary and middle school students, this is a continuation of the procedures Tulsa Public Schools enforced last year that require phones and other personal electronic devices to be put away for the entire school day. This will mean new policies beginning on the first day of school for high school students where devices may not be used at all during the school day. More information can be found here.
Attendance updates for 2025-26
We know that daily school attendance is one of the strongest predictors of student success and that missing even a few days each month can have a lasting impact on a student’s learning. This year, Tulsa Public Schools is taking a proactive approach to supporting attendance by offering regular updates on student progress and connecting families with personalized support—including weekly updates on grades and attendance, regular check-ins with students, and help navigating barriers. Chronically absent students (missing more than 10% of their enrolled school days for any reason) may face the following consequences: being held back a grade; losing a transfer to a magnet or specialty school; or becoming ineligible for sports or extracurricular activities. Click here to hear from Superintendent Johnson about the district’s renewed focus on improving attendance.
Free transportation through MetroLink Tulsa
Students who are 18 or younger can access free bus rides through Metrolink. This offer even extends to the MicroLink service, which works similarly to Uber. Learn more about how to ride for free here.

McKinney-Vento Program for families experiencing housing instability
We are thrilled to have students back in our school buildings, and we know that circumstances can change over the summer. If your family is facing housing instability, our team can help. The McKinney-Vento Program at Tulsa Public Schools provides support for students and families experiencing homelessness, displacement, or transitional living situations. Our goal is to help students maintain stability and continuity in their education during difficult times. The program offers assistance with immediate school enrollment, transportation, uniforms, school supplies, and connections to additional resources. Eligibility requirements may vary.
