Thomasine Alexander named Carver Support Professional of the Year

Thomasine Alexander is the 2025-2026 Carver Middle School Support Professional of the Year!

Thomasine joined team Tulsa in 2000. During her time, she has been a teacher, behavioral interventionist, and a teacher's assistant, which has been her role at Carver for seven years. We asked her a few questions to learn more about her and her time in Tulsa Public Schools.

What led you to a career in education?

As a teenager, I knew I was born to be a high school teacher. My college degree is business education and administration. After twelve years teaching full time at McLain High School, I retired. I thought I was tired. By mid-July, I realized I needed something to do, and I knew I wanted to still work in the education field. I applied to be a substitute teacher. I subbed primarily at McLain for six years. Then, I became a behavioral interventionist here at Carver.

What is your favorite thing about your job?

I truly love trying to make a difference in the lives of any student I can. I believe in tough love. Most of the kids think I’m mean at first, but once we get to know each other, our relationship gets stronger.

What is one thing you are passionate about outside of work?

Outside of work, I love spending time with my family; we’re tight knit. I am actively involved in my church. I love to watch live basketball – from elementary school to college. I love to play card games.

Is there anything else you would like to share?

I feel very blessed to be a part of the Carver Middle School family. I am grateful that they chose me to be their Support Professional of the Year.
